Achtergrond
Alchemilla mollis + Actaea simplex is onderdeel van mijn Botaniska serie waarin ik het Zweedse zomerlicht en de bijzondere plantvormen van de botanische tuinen van Goteborg en Stockholm heb vastgelegd. De schilderwerken op canvasboard houden het midden tussen schets en detail. Het gezamenlijke resultaat is een collectie momentopnames van planten, tuinhoekjes en bloemen in noordelijk zomerlicht.
Nachtblauw contrasteert met grijsblauwe Alchemilla en het diep donkerroodbruine blad van Actaea in een kunstwerk dat je doet afvragen of de botanische en metereologische wereld niet meer verwant zijn dan je aanvankelijk dacht.

Background
Alchemilla mollis + Actaea simplex is part of my Botaniska series, in which I capture the Swedish summer light and the unique plant forms of the botanical gardens of Gothenburg and Stockholm. These canvas board paintings are a cross between sketch and detail. The combined result is a collection of snapshots of plants, garden nooks, and flowers bathed in northern summer light.
Midnight blue contrasts with the grayish-blue Alchemilla and the deep, dark reddish-brown leaves of Actaea in a work of art that makes you wonder if the botanical and meteorological worlds aren’t more closely related than you initially thought.
