Botaniska
“Botaniska” is een serie olieverfschilderijen, -schetsen, inkttekingen en collages geïnspireerd op de botanische tuinen in Göteborg en Stockholm die ik bezocht in de zomer van 2024. Ik dacht dat ik niet gemaakt was voor 24 uur licht, maar wat bleek? Het licht is veel blauwer dan hier en voor mij veel beter verteerbaar. Dat heb ik vertaald naar een kleurpalet waarin ik zo min mogelijk geel heb gemengd. En als er al geel inzit, dan heb ik het waar het kan verzacht met wit.

“Botaniska” is a series of oil paintings, sketches, ink drawings, and collages inspired by the botanical gardens in Gothenburg and Stockholm, which I visited in the summer of 2024. I thought I wasn’t cut out for 24 hours of light, but guess what? The light is much bluer than back home in the Netherlands and much more palatable for me. I translated that into a color palette in which I mixed as little yellow as possible. And if there is any yellow, I softened it with white where possible.
