De pothoek in de tropische palmenkas in Goteborg vereeuwigd. En alhoewel het me vooral ging om Adiantum raddianum (die twee potten vol felgroene varens) had de bijzondere stam in dit portret andere plannen. Ach, schilderen is soms net het echte leven: je denkt een goed plan te hebben tot de realiteit ermee aan de haal gaat. En als het dan lukt om met de stroom mee te bewegen lijdt het eindresultaat er meestal niet onder. Maar oordeel vooral zelf 🙂

The potted corner in the tropical palm house in Gothenburg immortalized. And although my main focus was Adiantum raddianum (those two pots full of bright green ferns), the unusual trunk in this portrait seems to steal the show. That goes to show, painting is sometimes just like real life: you think you have a good plan until reality takes over. And if you manage to go with the flow, the end result usually doesn’t suffer. But judge for yourself 🙂

Ontstaan Adiantum raddianum
Adiantum raddianum is onderdeel van mijn Botaniska serie waarin ik mijn weg terug naar het licht heb gevonden. De eerste series werken (de schetsen en de collages) zijn donkerder en paarser van kleur. In de eerste set van 16 canvasboards kun je voorzichtig her en der wat eigeel bespeuren. In de 32 canvasboards waar Adiantum raddianum onderdeel van is kun je de opmars van de kleur geel duidelijk zien.
Background Adiantum raddianum
Adiantum raddianum is part of my Botaniska series, in which I’ve found my way back to the light. The first series of works (the sketches and the collages) are darker and more purple in colour. In the first set of 16 canvas boards, you can carefully detect some egg yolk here and there. In the 32 canvas boards that comprise Adiantum raddianum, you can clearly see the advance of the colour yellow.
