In this series of blogs, I’ll be revisiting previous work every two weeks until Christmas. Today I’m putting the spotlight on my art project “Night Garden”. Previous entries within this series include:
I find succulents and cacti the most intriguing species of plants on the planet. Maybe they amaze me in the same way as shade-loving plants in the way they thrive in extreme circumstances. So in hindsight it is no wonder I found my first very own colour palette while diving into their world and the urban desert of Tucson, Arizona in 2020. Quickly there were 20 paintings on canvas board, all within a distinct Mediterranean desert palette with lots of sandy pinks, dusty reds and yellow greens.

Urban Desert postcards
Five years later I made them into the most amazing postcards, available individually and as a festive set featuring all 20 of them. The postcards have a lovely matte finish that brilliantly captures the desert feel of the paintings.

Tucson ink drawings

Next up in this series of earlier art projects of mine is the never ending “Experiments in collage” which I started in 2020, around the same time I painted the Tucson paintings. And after that next post that will be live on December 10 there’s only one project left within this series of looking back to old art projects: the very first one I ever worked on and that started my art practice/journey almost ten years ago: Majorelle. Just in time for Christmas. Stay tuned!
